Philodendron Atabapoense

Named for the Atabapo River of southern Venezuela near the Colombian border — a remote tributary of the Orinoco flowing through dense Amazonian rainforest — Philodendron atabapoense is a hemiepiphytic climber identified by botanists in 1975 and native to the lowland tropical forests of Venezuela and the Brazilian Amazon, where it scales tree trunks in the humid, shaded understory stretching its unusually elongated leaves toward the filtered canopy light above. The foliage is the defining character: remarkably long, narrow, lance to strap-shaped blades that can exceed two feet in length at maturity, carried on distinctively elongated petioles that help the plant reach laterally for light in its forest habitat — a structural adaptation that also makes it one of the more elegant-looking climbing philodendrons in cultivation. What makes atabapoense immediately recognizable and particularly appealing is the dramatic two-toned leaf character: the adaxial surface is deep, matte forest green, while the abaxial underside is a striking deep maroon to burgundy-purple, a contrast that becomes visible every time a leaf moves and catches different angles of light and makes the plant far more visually dynamic than its surface description suggests. In higher humidity conditions the plant produces numerous aerial roots along the climbing stems that add a further layer of wild, tropical character. A vigorous and relatively forgiving grower by the standards of collector philodendrons, it rewards its keeper with rapid ascent and progressively larger leaves as it climbs.

A tall moss pole or sturdy climbing support is strongly recommended for encouraging the best leaf size and most characteristic upright growth — unsupported plants trail rather than ascend and produce significantly smaller leaves. Provide bright to moderate indirect light; the plant adapts across a reasonable light range and tolerates slightly lower light than many collector philodendrons without losing its character, though bright indirect light produces the fastest growth and largest leaves. Water when the top 1-2" of medium approaches dryness in a chunky, well-draining aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir. Humidity of 60-70%+ supports the best growth and the most prolific aerial root development. Maintain warm temperatures between 65-85°F. Toxic to humans and pets if ingested.

sufficient for my dog..
Not very durable.. Dog has chewed one in half pretty quickly and found some smaller bits around the house. This could pose a safety risk to dogs that try to also swallow these bits. If your dog is like mine and would rather play with them instead, they are cheap enough to replace them.

Stands up to my aggressive chewer.
The squeaker stopped working almost immediately, but my dog didn't care too much. He still keeps chewing on these balls, and so far, they have stood up to his tough jaws.

Dogs love the bounce and squeak
My dog loves these and he isn’t a fetching breed. He loves chewing on them while they squeak. He’s a Great Pyrenees and the chewing is good for keeping him occupied when I’m not home. The neighbor dog, sneaks through the communicating gate and will steal one for herself. She’s a cattle dog/ husky cross. The other neighbor has a lab and he absolutely LOVES how these ball love to fly through the air and bounce so well when they hit the ground. Get them

No, squeaky
The rubber balls are super stiff, which is good or bad depending on your dog. The squeaker is awful and terribly designed, however, It squeaks the first time you or your dog squeezes it, then it falls off inside and it becomes a rattler instead of squeaker. I thought it was a one off thing, but nope, all of the balls had the squeaker fall off inside rattling by the 2nd attempt to make it squeak.
