The Dr. Martens Made in England line is produced at the original factory in Wollaston, England, using premium materials and the same construction methods beloved vintage docs. Every pair is built with a traditional goodyear welt, then given a heat-sealing treatment that bonds the sole and uppers further, before finishing with reinforcing welt stitches - resulting in a technically resoleable (though it is admittedly more challenging than other welted footwear as a result of the heat-sealing) and exceptionally durable pair of shoes.

The 1461 Oxford Shoe is a chunky casual shoe with three eyelets and a structured toe. It's been a part of the Dr. Martens lineup for the past 60 years, returning again and again in different iterations - this model keeps it simple, with a plain toe and strip back heel, letting the silhouette and leather speak for themselves.

The Black Quilion leather is a tea core cowhide designed to replicate and age like the black cowhide on classic Docs. With a gentle shine and totally smooth grain texture, they're a long-term patina project, as the black exterior will gradually fade and wear down to reveal the natural brown core underneath.

The trims are worthy of the construction and labor, with tonal coated brass eyelets and heavy duty woven laces closing up the front. They stand on a custom Dr. Martens sole, with a stacked semi-lug tread that offers some of the very best in durability, traction, and comfort - boasting oil, fat, acid, alkali, and petrol resistance on the bottom of every pair. The inside features a custom leather insole, and the uppers are held together with high SPI (stitches per-inch) tonal thread.

These fit true to US size, which is UK -1. So, if you're a size 9 US on the Brannock device, select size UK 8 for the correct fit.

Superb
Format: Hardcover
A superb selection of Williams' poetry in a handsome and durable small volume. The editor, Robert Pinsky, selected an appropriate spectrum of Williams' verse across his long career, including all his most famous poems. Reading and rereading these poems is always rewarding because of Williams' ability to capture arresting images, experiences, and states of mind. As with all anthologies, some choices may be arguable. I would like to see all of his great, late poem Asphodel included but Pinsky's choices make sense and reflect his sure knowledge of Williams' work. This book is a great addition to the worthy American Poets Project.

Another excellent volume from the American Poets Project
Format: Hardcover
As stated in another one of my reviews, every single Library of America volume I've ever purchased (including volumes from the American Poets Project) have been of the highest quality, superbly executed and just plain beautiful. Already possessing several volumes of William Carlos Williams work, I purchased this compact, delightful volume as a gift for my oldest son (who shares my appreciation for both great literature generally, and poetry specifically). Upon its arrival (delayed, once again, by amazon's ridiculously slow delivery) I was more than pleased, and felt proud to be presenting my son with such a first rate representation of W.C.W.'s work.

they are still as good as they were when they were first written
Format: Kindle
I've been reading William Carlos Williams since the seventies. His poetry was ground breaking at the time of there release, and to me, they are still as good as they were when they were first written. His portrayals of every day people and pastoral scenes are still worth reading. His rhythms in his short poems are worth studying for any poet. I recommend reading his selected Poems.

William Carlos Williams is a wonderful poet who incorporates the mundane and interesting things happening around him in his poetry. One word will suffice: enjoyable.
