my dog loves it, but is chewing small, jagged shreds off of it

My dog loves this bone and he is able to easily hold it in his paws due to the shape. He is half bernedoodle and half bloodhound quite large 75 pounds and is a very aggressive chewer. My only concern is that he is biting off small pieces of what I believe is plastic since it’s the nylon one. I know he’s probably ingesting some of the pieces. Is this supposed to happen?

Three stars because my dogs love them. But in terms of “Indestructibility,” that’s completely inaccurate. One day in and the dogs have destroyed them, leaving jagged edges.
